Das Wunderlust (sic) live up to their name, straying far from their native home of Teeside for this event, perhaps because the star of Radio 1 Wales, Bethan Elfyn, played an exclusive track from their new album on her Introducing show recently. These screeching, female-fronted experimentalists are quite unlike the other two acts, and quite unlike themselves from one moment to the next, changing sound from cutesy vocals one minute to metal riffs the next. The prevailing sound is an electronic mish-mash of plinky-plonky art-rock, such as on ‘I Wish I Was A Robot,’ full of geek-core gusto and bright ideas, making us stomp our feet, but the sheer wave of jangling creativity leaves us, ultimately, confused and a little nauseous.
